The Fred Hall Fishing Show

Growing up, my dad took us a couple of times to the Ventura Fred Hall Fishing Show. He and my brothers were always so excited to go, and then always soooo let down by how pathetic it was. Well boys, the San Diego show is about 10,000 times better. It was huge and had everything Rob was hoping for and more. Here he and Sophie are on his dream boat. Lucky for us it had a special boat show price, reduced from $120,000 down to a super reasonable $116,000. What a smoking deal. Unfortunately for us we forgot the hitch for our truck, otherwise we would have brought that little number home with us. Isn't she a beauty!!

Sophie was a big fan of all of the lake boats. She went on almost every boat in the show. She had a great time.

Outside they had a dock dogs competition. It was pretty fun to see how far the dogs jumped into the pool. Sophie wanted to go swimming too, but alas it wasn't allowed.

Scarlett was a trouper, and was pretty happy for the 4 hours we spent there. Yes, 4 hours at a boat show. Rob was on cloud 9.

They had a little area where we could practice our archery skills. It was pretty fun. I felt a lot like Robin Hood, and had to fight the sudden desire to rob the rich to feed the poor.

Sophie even got in on the fun. Notice this impressive action shot, her arrow is in mid-air. Not too shabby.

They also had a giant tank where the kids could fish for free. Sophie caught a rather impressive rainbow trout that got off the hook. Rob had to quickly pick it up off the ground so that it wouldn't die, hence we have only this shot of the fish on the ground. Oh well.

Sophie the fisherman.

I wouldn't have ever guessed a boat show would be more fun than the zoo.
